Selangor caretaker Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari today said he will have to listen to a report on a planned incinerator in Batu Arang, Selangor, before making decision.

"I will arrange a date [to listen to] the report on this incinerator, only then we can decide," Amirudin said after listening to an emotional plea by a resident at a brief dialogue session in Bandar Seri Coalfields.

The dialogue session was held after Amirudin met with a group of members of Persatuan Harapan India Malaysia and vowed to improve facilities of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Coalfields.

The resident, Esther Woo (43), homemaker, urged Amirudin to scrap the planned Batu Arang incinerator which is near to several schools in the areas in particular Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Tasik Puteri.

"For the sake of our children, they will be inhaling toxic [chemical elements emitted by the incinerator] for a long time from Monday to Friday, I hope YB will scrap the incinerator in Batu Arang," said the former teacher who has two children, fighting back her tears.
