What you should know about Point of Entry
- What it is & how it works
P.O.E. Is a term for water filtration system before it enters the whole house (normally it is fixed just next to your water meter. Its purpose is to prevent any unwanted elements/sediments (solid & non solid if any) from entering into your home. There are two categories:
1) Not back-washable 2) Back-washable.
1) Not back-washable:
Advantage is the low initial cost. Disadvantage is it needs to change the cartridge very often and eventually the cost is higher in long run.
2) Back-washable:
Advantage is its convenience and the Disadvantage is the higher initial cost.

- How does a back washable two way system works?
The water goes in one direction past the media and traps any unwanted elements/sediments during filtration. And when it’s the turn of the backwash, the water goes in the opposite direction so the trapped elements/sediments will be flushed away, leaving the media clean so it can effectively filter the next round.
Note: The effectiveness of backwash depends on the water flow & pressure. If the flow or pressure is low in your area, the backwash normally takes longer (15-30 mins or more) to clear & normally some will still be inside the filter, causing other problems.
